I don't think that the adium theme knows what is my name, so this is
also an empathy bug.

I'm sorry, obviously adium knows my name.
What exactly should this do? When there is my nickname the whole message must be highlighted, or just my nickname?

that message in which my name is called should have a whole new color. maybe red as many IRC channels including empathy(without adium theme) uses red

No.
Actually, incoming messages in adium only know the name of the sender and not my name, so this can't be done in adium-theme-ubuntu. (as long as I know, because I've just read the adium site. I'm definitely not an adium expert)

There is no %myname% type tag however this could be done via a textsearch of the incoming message using javascript.

Something like incomingTextVar.search(/myName/i) should find it. However there's no way to set what YOUR name is, until you send a message (at least in Adium that is the case) (see the vars available and when they are evaluated at http://trac.adium.im/wiki/CreatingMessageStyles) so, yes, it's possible to do this with the theme, would I recommend it? No. It would be a lot of work for something that should be handled by Empathy and passed down to the theme.

But in this way we're no more adium compatible, because we must add a
parameter to the javascript functions.
This is a big lack of adium, but I see that in the adium changelog
they state that when someone writes your name the message color is red
