Bug Description

Using:
- lubuntu 12.10 (ac100)
- nvidia proprietary drivers
- mplayer

When trying to play a video, a video window is open and X freezes.
I can switch to console and back to X (ctrl-alt-f1) and kill the mplayer and X, but it remains frozen.

This also happens when using ekiga to display self image from the camera.

Note that this does not happen when using the "open source video drivers". (selected by the 'Software Sources' application)
( However, in that case I suspect from xorg.0.log that the FB driver is used instead of nouveau - but that's another story..)

What is the resolution of the video you are playing?
If possible, can you please share the video ?

I believe, for ekiga you are using a USB webcam, right?

Hi,

The sample video is:

Right, for ekiga I'm using the usb cam.

In the meantime, I could get the video playing, by following the instructions at
http://ac100.grandou.net/hw_accelerated_video_playback

This only works with nvgstplayer or gst-launch playbin2.
totem does not freeze, but it doesn't play either.
mplayer and ekiga still have the same behaviour
