I can't provide a stack trace, but I think the subject of this bug is pretty descriptive and I provided the 3 basic steps required to test it.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

It didn't crash, it froze.

Like it says in the subject. Please stop closing this bug and actually read it just because it's lacking a crash report.

* THERE IS NO CRASH, IT FROZE
* THIS IS REPRODUCABLE

There's no hang here while open an ODT file, since you don't want to get a trace, i'll leave this open to someone who can reproduce the problem, thanks you.

Are you able to reproduce this after installing abiwrod-plugins ? The Ubuntu package for Ubuntu does not ship the ODT plugin by default, this might be your problem. In that case, this is a duplicate of bug #164232.

This bug isn't a duplicate of bug #24195 - that bug is about including OpenDocument plugin in main abiword package, while title of this bug is "freezes when you open an ODT document *without* abiword-plugins installed". This is an upstream bug - AbiWord should don't try to open .zip files (OpenDocument files are archived in .zip archive) if needed plugins are not installed. Look for more info in upstream bugreports.

Plugins aren' shipped in a different package anymore, so it should be fixed.
