font lookup code disabled on non-Linux unices

Bug Description

Hello,

font_by_name() calls _find_font() only on Linux systems (but not on other Unix systems). The attached patch fixes this bug.

Not necessarily, but it's not necessarily "valid" for all Linuxes either.
/usr/share/fonts is however fairly standard location, e.g. it is default font path for fontconfig on non-Windows systems.
