GThumb prints GIFS as black smudges

Hi, there are many threads on the forum about this. GThumb seems to prints
all my gif files as a big black square on the paper, but other image formats
are fine.

Thanks for your bug report. Especially

to understand what was going on.

This seems to be the same case in http://bugs.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322057
and https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/3673 - so I doubt it's
eog-specific.

Same here, but with PNG files (haven't tried GIFs yet).
Version is gthumb 2.7.1.
All I get when printing any PNG is a black rectangle of toner on my paper.

EOG prints them wrong, it just prints half the image, elongated, with white stripes every millimeter or so. Printing works fine on my system, for example JPEGs print fine from gthumb and openoffice works too.

This is exactly how the hardcopy comes out of the printer as well.

Well you asked me what eog does :))
The bottom line is I, too, cannot print GIFs and PNGs from gthumb, getting an all-black rectangle.

When running gthumb from the console and trying to print this png, I get these two warnings:

That bug has been fixed to dapper-updates with this upload:

" eog (2.14.3-0ubuntu1) dapper-updates; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream version:
     - Properly sort image filenames containing numbers
     - Thumbnailing fixes

and to edgy with that one:

reopening, the bug upstream tasks point to an eog bug but the distro task is about the gthumb package

gThumb 2.9.x appears to print these various images correctly.

gThumb 2.9.x uses gtkprint, instead of libgnomeprint.

I can confirm that this is fixed in the current version in Feisty, which uses gtkprint now.
