Bug Description

This is regarding Knowledge Management module in OpenERP v7.0
Installed on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Server

After configuration of the FTP server a server path is proposed in the form of :

 ftp://admin@<your IP address>:8021/<your database name>

This causes a new browser window to open, but shows an error :

" This page is not available"

However when using a server path without the user name i.e.

ftp://<your IP address>:8021/<your database name>

A pop-up will then appear for you to enter a user name and password. The FTP window pops up and displays all directories.

Please note that this only works if at least one user is logged into the database you're trying to connect to.

1. The error is that proposed default path created by the FTP server configuration wizard is incorrect or the ftp server should accept the proposed path created by the FTP server configuration Wizard

this causes confusion with end-users.

Thanks & waiting for your answer.

Hi Twinkle,

Here are some more details:

I have trunk version installed on an Ubuntu Server which is my LAN. Server
is configured for FTP connection. Knowledge Module is installed and
configured using the FTP configuration Wizard.

I can connect to the OpenERP server remotely from a PC and logon to a
database as normal.

When selecting the menu Knowledge management a popup appears with a
proposed URL for the FTP server connection,

If I accept this, by selecting "browse" button, a new browser window opens
but it does not logon onto the database and gives the reported error
message.

The proposed from the FTP server configuration is in the format :

ftp://admin@<your IP address>:8021/<your database name>

If I however remove the user name ("admin" in the example above) and then
press "browse" button" then a pop-up appears so I can add user name and
password. A connection to the fTP server then works OK.

The error is that the username is not accepted as part of the FTP server
login string.

Hope that is clearer?

Regards

Colin

HI all,
i have also problems about accessing FTP via openERP Web client.

1. I noticed that host name (IP of FTP server) is always localhost. Can I change this for all the users?

2. I set up FTP server, also config opener-server.conf to allow connecting from any location, ports etc.
When I want to access Repository(FTP) via Web Client, new window is opened, but i can not sign into.

I ve made some tests and i installed new FTP server on my linux machine. If i try to connect to this via the same name i can access it.

Are there any other option? I also tried ftp without "user@IP:port/db"
Aslo if i try to connect via my osx FTP client i can not connect.
Any suggestions? I have opened all necessary ports.

Thanks for you kindness and help
Bye
