wrong conversion from epub to pdf

I need to convert an epub e-book (251 pages) as shown in the first screen shot to a pdf format. I obtain the pages shown in the second screen shot followed by other 278 blank pages.

I have no problem converting other epub ebook to pdf format. But, when I convert "Viva Las Vegas" the problem is any time experienced.

Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Calibre. You made this bug report in 2012 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Calibre since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 985813
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

I confirm that now the conversion from epub to pdf is ok so you can close
the ticket.
Ubuntu 18.04 and Calibre 3.21.
