Bug Description

Ubuntu Precise Desktop 20120416 amd64+mac

TEST CASE:
1. Boot to a live session
2. Set proxy setting in gnome-control-center/Network (I set it to manual and filed the 4 fields)
3. Start ubiquity and install the sytem
4. Reboot to the installed system
5. Check proxy settings

ACTUAL RESULT
Proxy is not set.

EXPECTED RESULT
It should be preserved

Are wireless network passwords carried over to the installed system?

wireless setting is carried over. The rationale behind keeping proxy settings is that usually the system is used in the same environment that where it is installed. So if a user needs a proxy for installation, he will probably need it after installation.

I'd prefer to defer any change to this until after 12.04, because there are potentially interesting interactions with things like factory install environments.
