Bug Description

While doing the alpha2 test of xubuntu precise pangolin if you try to choose the direct install from the boot menu, not trying the live session, just trying to install, it will send you to the live session anyway, this happens if you choose any language on the boot prompt.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/924931/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

This installation will procede if you do not hit a key, but allow the cd to run itself. It will present you with two choices, "Try Xubuntu" "Install Xubuntu". Hitting "Install Xubuntu" from this page will not go to the live session, but will run ubiquity installer instead.

Based off Charlie's comments it sounds to me as if things are working the way they are supposed to.

Actually, there is an issue here since you can not install from the cd menu. If the menu can be accessed and there is a selection to install instead of try Xubuntu, the installer should not go direct to the live session. The ability to use "maybe-ubiquity" to install should not mean the menu does not work.

I can't reproduce this at the moment. Using yesterday's daily build of the Xubuntu desktop i386 image, I did the following:

 * Pressed some key or other at the keyboard/accessibility icon splash to get to the CD boot menu proper
 * Selected Deutsch (German) at the language prompt
 * Selected "Xubuntu installieren" ("Install Xubuntu")
 * Pressed Enter

This booted directly into the installer, not into a live session.

If these are not the correct steps to take to reproduce this bug, please provide similarly detailed instructions.
