This was released in v5.3.3 upstream, so Fix Released on the main bug task.

Its worth backporting to Lucid, as workarounds and detecting which JPEGs seem difficult and haphazard at best.

Mark, we are *very* far behind on stable release updates for lucid. If you could add the requisite SRU justification to the bug description, as described here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

Then that will help get this into lucid-proposed faster. Also if you attach a debdiff with the patch added to the package, and subscribe the 'ubuntu-sponsors' team to this bug, it should get looked at relatively quickly.

The patch is here:

http://svn.php.net/viewvc/php/php-src/branches/PHP_5_3/ext/standard/image.c?r1=300881&r2=300880&pathrev=300881&view=patch

Changed in php5 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Fix Released
Changed in php5 (Ubuntu Lucid):
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → High

Ooh! Thanks for the pointers. I'll see what I can make happen.

Could you look at this RSVG bug? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/librsvg/+bug/921897 I looked for patches to fix the particular problem, but didn't see any, so upgrading the package looked like the easist thing to do.

Thanks Mark for your merge proposol and all your work so far to fix this bug. While the patch itself looks good and you have updated the debian/patches/series file so it will apply, the branch was against the version of php5 that was in Lucid at release, and not our currently updated packages. Can you update your merge proposal against this branch:
https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/lucid/php5/lucid-updates

Then update debian/changelog accordingly (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure for details). Clint also asked that you fill in the SRU justification in the Bug description. I am going to unsubscribe ubuntu-sponsors at this time; please resubscribe one the merge is ready and the SRU justification completed.

Thanks again for your work on this! :)
