Bug Description

There is a problem with Toshiba Satellite L300D with ATI Mobility Radeon X1100. Even though there is no monitor connected to the HDMI port the drm/radeon module dumps every ten seconds an EDID to the kernel logs and onto terminal sessions. This is valid since Ubuntu lucid and still exists in latest Ubuntu natty kernel.

There is a patch for this problem proposed for upstream kernel.

See http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2011-August/013709.html

I've backported the patch to Ubuntu Natty and it has been successfully tested by Routhy (see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1607778).

You will find the test kernel in https://launchpad.net/~rdratlos/+archive/ppa-asus-m2a-fix.

Thanks for the pointer to the patch. Looks like it's getting some feedback from upstream. Assigning this to myself to keep an eye on the patch. We can pull it in as it firms up with upstream (ie I'd prefer a clean cherry-pick from Linus' repo). Thanks.

This patch has been included upstream in kernel 3.1-rc4, and cc'd to the stable kernel series.

Additionally, I'm moving the status back from Fix Committed to In Progress as the patch has not been officially applied to the Ubuntu kernel repositories yet. Thanks.

We recently rebased to upstream stable v3.0.4. Marking this Fix Committed now. Should be available in the first upload after Beta-1 (ie 3.0.0-10.16). Thanks.

Ubuntu kernel 3.0.0-10.16 is available in the Oneiric repositories now, with this comment:

I assume it's OK if I mark this Fix Released now?
