Hi Paolo,

It just so happens we have the same graphics card, so we can compare and contrast ;). I can change resolution using

'xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1024x768' for example

Can you try this and see if it works? I guess default should have some meaning and work to some extent (did it work for you in Natty?) so there might still be a bug here - but xrandr is not broken.

According to your xrandr.txt log you have no display called default

Hi,
"xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1024x768" works correctly in Natty and Oneiric.
I'm testing the Xorg driver: http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Hardware/X/ProprietaryDrivers#Different resolutions
In the guide is written to use the command "xrandr --output default --mode <resolution>"...

Thanks!

Hi Paolo,

I still don't know if default is *supposed* to work or not. I'll try and find out.

Hi Brendan,
I tried to do the other tests.
xrandr don't work, es. "xrandr --output DVI-0 --auto --left-of VGA-0 --auto" or "xrandr --output default --rotate <direction> ".
It says "warning: output default not found; ignoring"

I've only seen outputs named 'default' on -nvidia (which does not support XRANDR). Perhaps you were looking at some out of date directions, or directions for -nvidia instead of -fglrx.

In any case, Brendan is right. According to your xrandr output you don't have a display named 'default' so the error message is correct in this case.
