Bug Description
Binary package hint: libpcap0.8-dev
Hi,
pcap-config has extra space in libs definition
--libs)
echo "-L /usr/lib -lpcap "
;;
The extra " " between -L and /usr/lib is causing make to fail (for example libvirt):
...
CCLD libvirt_
libtool: link: require no space between `-L' and `/usr/lib'
make[3]: *** [libvirt_
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/
make[2]: *** [all] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/
make: *** [all] Error 2

Following email to bugsquad from eapache: this is fixed on Natty: changelog shows the fix on 1.1.1-1:

+ No changes to existing API/ABI; no new symbols.

+ Updates USB packet header definition (closes: #571028).
+ pcap_loop() handles device removal gracefully again
(closes: #520393).
+ pcap-config no longer outputs an extra space after -L
(closes: #567570).
* debian/
* debian/
* debian/
* debian/control: Set Standards-Version to 3.8.4.
But Lucid suffers from it, being at 1.0.0-6.
