[I had this problem on 10.10 as well]

Installed 10.10 from Windows XP. Sound controls all work, but no sound [through front headphone jack]

Hi Jo and thanks for your bug report.

According to your BIOS, node 0x1b is your headphone output but the driver thinks it is at 0x19. Could you please try the following:

Edit the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add this line:

options snd-hda-intel model=auto

Save and reboot. Let me know if this solves the problem for you. Thanks!
