System left with MANY unmet dependencies. I'm trying Rescue Mode to install grub2 to have working OEM.
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
E: Unable to correct dependencies

Is this another bug? Which package?

I have been getting this error for over a week when installing into a VirtualBox VM. I tried tonight to directly install onto a computer and the install also failed with this error. I am using the alpha-1 alternate i386 installer. I'll leave the machine alone for tonight. If there is some information I can retrieve and post from it that would help find this bug, please let me know by responding here.

Howdy,
Perhaps I should describe my partition layout. I have two 37 GB drives. The first drive has 4 primary partitions[1) .5 GB ext2 with /boot, 2) 9 GB JFS with /usr, 3) .5GB encrypted swap, 4) remainder to LVM] The second drive has 2 primary partitions[1) .5gb encrypted swap, 2) remainder to LVM] The LVM is put into 1 volume group and then into 1 logical volume, which is a btrfs /(root) filesystem.

I started the procedure at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1599293 to try to recover, but don't see what I expect. At the grub rescue, I typed ls "(hd0,msdos1)/" and I see what look like kernel files and there is no grub directory.. I have not figured out how to do a directory of my / filesystem there, since it is in a LVM.

It looks like alpha-1 has been broken by subsequent changes in the archive, especially the move to Python 2.7. I don't think there's anything sensible we can do to fix this at this point; my best recommendation is that you simply use a daily build, given that we'll be releasing alpha-2 on Thursday anyway.
