Bug Description

In the nm-applet dropdown menu you can find a point VPN-Connections. When installing from cvs etc. it showed my configured VPN connections, now it only shows me: configure VPN and shutdown/terminate VPN greyed out. Is there a way to get the old behaviour back?

I suspect this is simply because we don't currently ship any VPN plugins

This happens to me a lot. For example, it's happening right now. I think this should not be a duplicate. I'm running 11.04 64-bit on a Lenovo T520. I'll provide a screenshot... or a photo because I can't take a screenshot of the panel menus.

This is /not/ the same issue as 37110, and it's happening on 11.04... My list of 'VPN Connections' often goes to blank, usually after a standby, and doesn't get back to normal until after I logout and login again...

Note: It usually happens to me after a suspend. And I just found out, that when this happenes, restarting nm-applet with a 'killall nm-applet ; nm-applet >/dev/null 2>/dev/null &' fixes it until the next suspend.

I've encountered this problem as well, only in my case the problem extends to the entire nm-applet menu. All submenus of the dialog (eg, "More networks") come up entirely blank, and even the items on the main menu are entirely non-responsive. Logging out/restarting nm-applet temporarily fixes the problem, but my computer has yet to go more than 48 hours without producing this problem.

Potentially-relevant notes:
- I was not having this problem on 11.04. It only appeared after an upgrade to 12.04.
- I'm running a Lenovo T420

Jelle's "fix" in #4 helps me too... thanks

For me it also appeared after an upgrade to 12.04.

The original bug should probably not to be confused with UI bugs as reported in bug #983583.

The original bug was reported in 2006 so it's too late to pursue it now.
