Bug Description

After installing a LAMP-stack in Hardy, if you run /etc/init.d/mysql status without root privileges, you get an error:

user@host:~$ /etc/init.d/mysql status
cat: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid: Permission denied
open: Permission denied
 * MySQL is stopped.

But MySQL isn't stopped.

The init script should check if the pid file can read instead of checking if it exists.
