can't install alongside existing OS

Ubuntu Focal Fossa (development branch)
20.04

ubiquity:
 Installed: 20.04.9

 Version Table:

I tried to install Ubuntu MATE alongside an existing Arch partition, it failed. I should note that this was in VMWare.
