Bug Description

I lack the knowledge to copy the necessary logfiles to a usb drive without a gui, and without connectivity cannot even pastebin their contents.

So sadly all I can report is that there was success in the Kubuntu amd64 oem installer from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/xenial/daily-live/20180228/xenial-desktop-amd64.iso.zsync
until the new user was set up. At that point, while the terminal was available, there was no desktop, and no wireless.

Since I intend doing another test with that laptop, and there is no working install, those files will not be available.

Thanks for your report. Unfortunately without installation log files it is not possible to guess what is wrong with the OEM installation. I verified on Ubuntu and it works fine. I'm setting this report to incomplete, please set it to confirm when you're able to collect more information.
