grub-installer for yakkety failed to install to my crucial mx100 ssd with multiple boots

Bug Description
To reproduce install the latest 64 bit amd yakkety lubuntu image. Install with manual partitoning using an ext4 filesystem alongside several other ubuntu installations.
I expected this to install the grub bootlaoder after finsihing the installation. Instead it failed to install the grub bootloader. and I got the problem with ubiquitybecause of this. And I am reporting this before having to manually install a bootloader.
