Mugshot authentication failed

Whenever I attempt to save details with mugshot, I get asked for a password.

Typing the root password results in "Incorrect password" after a 1-2 seconds lag.
Typing my user account password results in a 5ish second freeze, then followed by an error dialog stating "Authentication Failed".

There is apparently no way to get Mugshot to save anything. Happy to debug/test if told how to do/given code to try.

Similar problems here, Xubuntu 14.10.

"Incorrect password" when I am about to change/set the picture on non-default (setup by install) user.

Same problem on ArchLinux (form the aur package)
It happens only if I modify the Name and/or the Surname.
Before that, changing the profile picture works flawlessly.
So, after modifying the name, changing profile picture also asks for password and fails

In Xubuntu 15.04 it happens too and i get messages in /var/log/auth.log :

1. Putting user's password:

Apr 25 11:29:08 Mymachine1 sudo: user1 : user NOT in sudoers ; TTY=pts/7 ; PWD=/u01/home/user1 ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/bin/true

2. Putting root's password:

Apr 25 11:29:23 Mymachine1 sudo: user1 : user NOT in sudoers ; TTY=pts/7 ; PWD=/u01/home/user1 ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/bin/true

Ask: Do we need all machine users belong to "sudoers" group to permit to change their own personal details ? Why ?

I verified the bug with Linux Mint 17.2 XFCE on two separate machines.
Hopefully it's an easy fix?

works for user with root rights, normal user unable to save

Thanks for the bug report. We have a few limitations here. Normal users cannot change their name without root rights, but should be able to change other details as long as they provide a password. I'll dig into why this isn't working and what other detection is needed.
