Bug Description

Ubiquity stops at the screen Preparing to Install because it cannot find the network. However, the network is connected and other programs can find and use the network. The machine is locked up when trying to use ubuntu-bug so I cannot collect information that way. Is there another way to collect bug info. This bug happens every time with the 2014-10-05 Desktop ppc image.

Getting syslog from the machine would help, you can find it in /var/log/syslog.

Brian, the machine locks so there is no normal way to preserve the syslog, not even getting to a console. Restarting loses all the information of the Live session. So what I tried was inserting a USB stick, unmounting it, remounting it rw sync, moving syslog to the stick, and symlinking /var/log/syslog to the syslog on the USB stick. Attached is the result but nothing stands out to me, at least not at the end of the log. It did not seem to capture anything. Was the method wrong or should a different log be chosen?

Seems to be fixed in the 2014-10-08 PPC Desktop image, but now it can't find the hard disk...
