Bug Description

This bug is new (or maybe has come back) for Trusty. The same operation (playing the same video clip (mp4 file)) works when mplayer2 is started from terminal, and gnome-mplayer can play video in Saucy.

Some days ago gnome-mplayer only played sound (of the video clip). Now it crashes.

After logout and also after reboot of the installed system, I could play the video in Openbox, and in a Lubuntu session. Was it a
temporary error, that occurs during the first login after installation?

Please test it in your computer or VM, and add 'affects me too' if that is the case.

I can get it to hang/freeze consistently by going to File->OpenFolder would that be the same thing?

Hi Lars,

I did not notice that particular thing, but yes, you are right, that was
how I started gnome-mplayer the first time. Afterwards I started it from
the terminal window or from pcmanfm.

So I'm pretty sure you found an important feature (maybe *the* important
feature) for the devs to be able to debug it :-)

Best regards
Nio

Now that I try, via File->OpenFolder in Gnome-mplayer, the mp4 file is greyed out and not possible to select. But it can be played via File->OpenRecent

So there is definitely something strange in Gnome-mplayer.

I have not tweaked the system or installed some extra package, only installed Lubuntu into a non-English language (Swedish).

Version 1.0.9 has now been released (it is in Ubuntu 14.10 which I am using). Are you able to test if it crashes in this new version? Are you able to attach a small example file that causes the crash?
