Bug Description

Test ID: 1619

The test says:

3. Click on "Search a package" field. Fill in "gedit" and hit enter
A list with search results appears

However, there is no search option in the lubuntu software center.
I am not sure if the test is wrong, or if it is really a bug with the software center...

Look in the to right corner. It's not a button, it's a text box.

Balasz, there is no fix. The search box is there. If you resize the window (make it bigger) you will see the search box.

I just stumbled upon this issue. For a new user there is not a slightest hint that a search box micht appear if the window size is increased. Three possible solutions:

1. Make the standard window size large enough such that the search box fits in.

2. Reduce the search box size such that it fits into the standard sized window.

3. If both of the above fails, at least include a hint into the drop down arrow on the left.

This bug is a real usability issue, please fix it!

I agree with photon, having been caught out by this 'feature' today. It's just one of several issues I've encountered today, each in itself small, but combined almost enough to make me question my faith in Ubuntu!

The maintenance of the Lubuntu Software Center is now limited to critical bugfixes on Lubuntu 16.04 only. It has been removed from the archive and does not ship in Lubuntu 17.10 and on. Therefore, I am closing this bug as Won't Fix.
