Specifically, what happens in my particular case (I have a first generation Mac Mini) is that the text Plymouth screen will change background colors from cyan to black. Typically this is a sign that the boot process is proceeding normally. Usually some extra text will show up , but currently there is only the text "Lubuntu 13.04" and the loading dots, which continue to change color from white to orange and back again. On June 22, I let my Mac Mini run overnight to see if there was some major slowdown, but when I awoke and turned on my monitor, the loading dots were still dutifully changing color with no progress made, so I did a forced shutdown from the power switch.

This does NOT occur to me with the daily build from June 13. I did not test daily builds from June 14 through June 20, but since June 21, the daily build has not booted properly for me.

Here is the log from the failed boot. It just stops at the splash screen, but the consoles are accessible.
