Bug Description

Hallo
This issue is reproducible in VM or real hardware but only for i386 systems (amd64 works).
Booting a system with LVM ancrypted, at plymouth usually appear the written asking to insert the passphrase to unlock.
This doesn't happens in a 32 bit system.
See attached screenshot, showing plymouth and only the black box to insert the passphrase.
Thanks
Fabio

This seems to be a font problem of some kind. Is this with an encrypted root filesystem, or with an encrypted non-root filesystem? (If you set this up using ubiquity's support for encrypted filesystems, then I expect this is an encrypted root filesystem.)

If it's an encrypted root filesystem, please attach the output of this command:

  zcat /boot/initrd.img-$(uname -r) | cpio -t

summary: - written to insert passphrase not showed
+ plymouth graphical splash displays, but text prompt not rendered

Thanks. This looks normal. Could you attach the actual file,
/boot/initrd.img-3.7.0-3-generic?

Have you seen the problem on real hardware as it works fine for me on bare metal?

Hallo Scott
Yes, I'm going to try above this fix, but this bug was reproducible in RC of Ubuntu i386 on real hardware, but let me try the fix.
I've tryied also in VMware Player with the same behavior.

Bad notice, is a random, sometimes it works on Virtualbox whitout any change made, just a shutdown and a boot.

but looking better it don't show the box for the passphrase (as it is showed in vmware) but only the console text....and also the kubuntu written is a totally different display, seems existing two different splash, plymouth with the dots and the prompt but without the box, and another without the dots and the prompt, but with the box (and better rendered)
